Speaking exclusively in tonight’s bumper 100-page Champions League special matchday programme, the former Real midfielder knows the odds are stacked against us, but that shouldn’t stop us going all-out to cause a shock.
“Look, people think we don’t have a chance against Real, but until the game is finished, of course we have a chance,” the 28-year-old explained.
“We know we are playing a top team, with so much experience at this level and with so many good players. We know it is going to be so difficult, but we have to go out there and give it everything we have and see what happens.
“If we get an early goal it will give us a massive lift, maybe they will start to get a little bit nervous and suddenly things change. So many different things can happen in a game of football – as we found out last week in Madrid – that can make it a completely different game.
“We have to go out and enjoy the game. The stadium will be full, the fans will be behind us all the way and we know what these European nights are like at Tottenham, there is a history behind Spurs in Europe and we can use that to our advantage this evening.”
