Wayne Rooney issues apology

Wayne Rooney has issued an apology after he was caught on camera swearing during Manchester United’s 4-2 win against West Ham.

After scoring the penalty which edged United into a 3-2 lead, after they had trailed by two goals Rooney was heard swearing by television cameras.

But speaking to ManUtd.com he expressed his regret at his actions, saying: "I want to apologise for any offence that may have been caused by my goal celebration, especially to any parents or children that were watching.

"Emotions were running high and on reflection my heat of the moment reaction was inappropriate, it was not aimed at anyone in particular."
